Big 12, Iowa State basketball unveil 2023-24 men's schedule

Iowa State will begin the Big 12 men’s basketball season by making its last league trip to one of the conference’s departing members and then welcoming one of its newest to Hilton Coliseum.

The Cyclones open Big 12 play on Jan. 6 at Oklahoma before returning home to face Houston on Jan. 9, the league announced Tuesday as it revealed conference schedules for all 14 teams.

Iowa State has two pairs of back-to-back road games on the schedule, first with games at BYU (Jan. 16) and TCU (Jan. 20) and then a Texas two-step the following month with games at Baylor (Feb. 3) and Texas (Feb. 6)

The Cyclones also have a Sunflower State homestand with consecutive games against Kansas State (Jan. 24) and Kansas (Jan. 27) at Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State, for the first time since 1921, will not play at Kansas as part of the league’s scheduling adjustments for its current 14-team size.

Iowa State will visit Big 12 newcomers Cincinnati (Feb. 13), Houston (Feb. 19) and UCF (March 2). The Cyclones will conclude their regular season on March 9 at Kansas State.

The season opens for Iowa State on Nov. 6, when Green Bay comes to Hilton Coliseum.

Iowa State has gone to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments under coach T.J. Otzelberger, who enters his third season helming the Cyclones with his youngest-ever team.
