Biden signs Lend-Lease Ukraine aid bill into law

STORY: "I'm signing a bill that provides another important tool in our efforts to support the government of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in their fight to defend their country and their democracy against Putin's brutal war and it is brutal," Biden said before the signing.

The "Lend-Lease Act" is a World War Two-era program that helped defeat Hitler’s Germany by allowing Washington to lend or lease military equipment to U.S. allies more quickly.

Among other provisions, Lend-Lease allows the United States to provide equipment to Ukraine now, with just a technical requirement to pay at some later date, essentially giving it to the Kyiv government.
