KEVIN IOLE: UFC 268 at Madison Square Garden is in the books, and it lived up to all the hype. It was hyped as one of the best cards of the year, and it really delivered. There were a lot of great performances on this card, on the preliminary card, as well as on the main card, but the main card was really a fun night of fights.

In the main event, Kamaru Usman retains the welterweight championship in a thrilling decision over Colby Covington. He wins a unanimous decision by scores of 48-47 twice, 49-46.

Usman who closed as a minus 300 favorite dropped Covington twice at the end of the second round. And yet when Covington came out for the start of the third round, he was the one on the attack. It was a back and forth fight. Covington fought a little bit of a different game plan. He managed to survive to the end, but Usman still had his hand raised.

In the co-main event, Rose Namajunas defended her title a little bit tighter, split decision, over Weili Zhang, 48-47 each way and 49-46 for Namajunas, big win for her. She won the title off a Weili earlier this year, ends up defending it successfully tonight. She puts herself in the conversation as the greatest women's fighter in the world, I think, with that fight.

And in the fight that has everybody talking in the opener of the show, Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler put on an amazing, crazy, sensational fight. It was just really something else. Justin Gaethje wins it, 29-28, on all cards, unanimous decision. It was just a lot of fun, back and forth.

Gaethje really did a lot of damage to Chandler's legs with kicks. Chandler's face was really eaten up. Gaethje took some unbelievable shots from Chandler, just big bombs, and he walked right through them. A couple of times, he was hurt and wobbled. He didn't walk through those, but it was quite the fight, fight of the night, deservedly so. Yahoo Sports, I am Kevin Iole.
