Betting: Who are Tuesday night’s best MACtion plays?

PAM MALDONADO: Hey, Yahoo Sportsbook. It is a new week of action. I'm Pam Maldonado, giving you a preview into Tuesday's slate. First game up on the board, Eastern Michigan at Akron. Give me the home dog. Akron plus 7.5. The Zips are a pass-only offense, second in conference for total passing yards. Zips quarterback DJ Irons, 67% completion on over 2,500 yards of the season.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles' defense? Top 30 against the pass. But are they really? Those stats are skewed, having only played one offense inside the top 50 for passing yards this season. The best passing offense played in conference? The Eagles had a four-point win over third-ranked Ball State just two weeks ago, allowing just under 7 yards per pass. That's more than the Ball State average.
Looking at the second match-up, Ohio 1.5-point road favorites over at Miami, Ohio. Give me the road favorite. Ohio, minus 1.5. The Ohio Bobcats are first in conference for passing yards. Quarterback Kurtis Rourke has turned 21 total touchdowns this season. That's top 20 in the FBS. He's averaging over 9 yards per pass attempt. That's top 15 in all of college football.
Rourke is as much of a threat with his legs as he is with his arms, rushing for over 200 yards this season. His all-around game is what makes Ohio's offense an absolute headache for defenses, which contributes to Ohio being 6 and 3 against the spread. Miami-Ohio is definitely vulnerable-- is most vulnerable against the pass, allowing 306 passing yards to Kent State earlier this season for 7.7 yards per pass. Rourke is the best quarterback in the MAC that will exploit the RedHawks' secondary.
For the third match-up, Ball State travels over to Toledo as 11.5-point road underdogs. Give me the home team laying the points, 11.5, with Toledo. Toledo Rockets quarterback DeQuan Finn is looking like he's likely to return after missing last week from injury. Finn is a true dual-threat quarterback. 18 passing touchdowns this season, over 500 yards rushing. He is 6' 2", but he is absolutely agile, averaging 6 yards per rush.
If Finn is indeed back into the lineup, he gashed Ball State defense last year, rushing for over 100 yards in a 22-12 road win, and he could do even better this year. Because Ball State rushing defense? Bottom 15 in the country, last in the MAC. To recap Tuesday's match and plays, Akron plus 7.5 at home to Eastern Michigan, Ohio minus 1.5 on the road to Miami, Ohio, and Toledo, minus 11.5 half at home to Ball State.
