MINTY BETS: It's week 1 of the college football season. I'm Minty Bets, here with Pam Maldonado, and she's here to give us her best bets for this weekend's slate. Pam, give us a winner, and give us your best bet.

PAM MALDONADO: I'm going with Penn State plus 5 at Wisconsin. Wisconsin Badgers, they're a run-first team, but are they even good at that? They were ranked 64th in rushing last season and won four games having such. The four teams that they won, they were ranked 79th or worse in rushing defense.

Penn State's strength is in that defense. They were 24th in passing defense, 26th in rush defense. And they closed out the 2020 season on a four-game win streak, allowing just 17 points per game. I think this is a great spot for Penn State to continue on that momentum that they finished on last year.

MINTY BETS: All right. I love it. Now, let's highlight the marquee game of the week-- number 3 Clemson Tigers versus the number 5 Georgia Bulldogs. Clemson is a 3-point favorite, and the total is set at 51 and 1/2. What do you think of this game, Pam?

PAM MALDONADO: There's a lot of hype surrounding the Georgia Bulldogs-- that this could be a potential college football national championship team. But the hype is surrounding what? That they closed out five winning games last season? But against which teams?

The one game that's perhaps being overvalued is a narrow 24-to-21 win over 9-and-1 Cincinnati. And quarterback JT Daniels, he didn't have his best game. In fact, he had two fumbles, three sacks, one touchdown, and one interception. And why? Because the Bearcats, they have the tenth-best pass rush in the country.

Clemson, who they face, the fifth-best pass rush and quarterback sacks last season, and they return everyone on that defensive line. So now you want to give me a top five defensive line who could potentially be the number one best pass rusher this time? Georgia's best defense is against the run. Clemson's best offense is in the pass.

Clemson's quarterback is coming into this game with some experience-- 67% completion, over 900 passing yards. I like DJ Uiagalelei to continue on that run. I'm taking Clemson minus 3.
