Kevin Iole joins Minty Bets to give his pick for the undisputed super middleweight title bout between Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin.
MINTY BETS: This Saturday, we've got the undisputed super middleweight title bout taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm Minty Bets, and to give us his best bet is Kevin Iole. Kevin, this title bout features Canelo Alvarez, minus 500, versus Gennadiy Golovkin at plus 333. This is the third time these two are meeting, so how are you betting this?
KEVIN IOLE: Well, I'll tell you what. I'm a little bit surprised. And I'm thinking that the bookmakers who put out these odds had not seen the first two fights, because it was a split decision and a majority decision. And a lot of people thought that Golovkin won both of those fights. I, for sure, thought he won the first fight. I had the second fight as a draw, but both were extremely, extremely close.
Now, I know over the passage of time and Golovkin is 40 years old now that I guess people have a little bit of doubt in him. But I'll tell you what. I think it's a 50/50 fight. But I think given how these fights have gone, Golovkin is coming up in a way where Canelo was going down.
And so that's tough to-- you put on that ball like you did for the Dmitry Bivol fight and now have to go back down and take it off. That is very difficult to do. If anyone can do it, it's Canelo. I want to say that. But I think it's a difficult thing to do.
So I like the numbers here that favor Golovkin. So I'm going to go ahead and play Golovkin to win. I'm also going to play Golovkin at plus 700 by decision because I just think that that's too good a number to pass up considering how close those first two fights were.
MINTY BETS: Ooh, that would be a nice payday. Thank you so much, Kevin.
KEVIN IOLE: Thank you, Minty.
