MINTY BETS: It's week three of the college football season. I'm here with college football expert Pam Maldonado and she has been on fire the past two weeks with her picks. Pam, I cannot wait to hear what you have for us. What is your best bet this week?
PAM MALDONADO: Minty, I can't wait to tell you. I am taking West Virginia minus 3 at home. Virginia Tech, they're run-heavy and West Virginia is pass-heavy.
Well, Virginia Tech's best defense is against the run. Virginia Tech, they played North Carolina and Middle Tennessee. They're 2 and 0, but those games were at home.
West Virginia is a great fade on the road 0-4 straight up, 1 and 3 against the spread last year. But when they are at home, quarterback Jarrett Doege is a brand new quarterback-- 61% completion, 3 passing touchdowns when traveling, 67% completion, 11 touchdowns when playing at home.
That trend is carrying over into 2021 and it's not just the quarterback, but the defense too. Away, they allowed 355 total yards last year. At home, just 233. I like the Mountaineers laying the 3 points at home.
MINTY BETS: All right. Now, time for the marquee game of the week. It's going to be the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Florida Gators. Alabama is laying 15 on the road here, and the total is 59 and 1/2. What do you think about this one, Pam?
PAM MALDONADO: I'm rolling with the Crimson Tide minus 15 on the road at Florida. The Gators, through two games, they are now 68th in opponent passing yards allowed and 73rd in opponent yards per pass. And the two teams that the Gators have faced is Florida Atlantic and South Florida.
Tell me that quarterback Bryce Young is not going to have himself an absolute field day. Give me the Crimson Tide to roll over this team.
