And the Best Super Bowl Ad Goes to...the Super Bowl?

The 2019 Super Bowl commercials ranged from epic HBO promos to chilling robot family ones, but the spot that took home a trophy: the NFL’s own ad.

The commercial, which celebrates the NFL’s 100th season coming up this year, won USA Today’s Super Bowl AdMeter rankings, which allows viewers to score each commercial on a scale of 1 to 10. It beat out Amazon Alexa’s hilarious Not Everything Makes the Cut.

“The 100-Year Game,” from 72andSunny included greats from football past and present. Tom Brady, Marshawn Lynch, Jim Brown, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Barry Sanders and more stars all attend a banquet presided over by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, until Lynch tips over the football trophy that’s perched atop a ten-tiered cake. Someone yells, “Fumble!” and the banquet devolves into a raucous game.

It also included 15-year-old girls’ football star Sam Gordon, sportscaster Beth Mowins and the NFL’s first female official, Sarah Thomas.

So, yeah, the Patriots may have won last night’s game, but the NFL officially took the cake.
