In Yankees history, only Lou Gehrig (1934) and Mickey Mantle (1956) have led the American League in home runs, RBI and batting average in a single season.
Miguel Cabrera was the last MLB player to achieve the Triple Crown, in 2012 with the Detroit Tigers.

Yankees' greatest single-season performances
At the same age as Judge, Gehrig in 1934 batted .363 with 49 homers and 165 RBI in a 154-game season.
Mantle was 24 in 1956 when he batted .353 with 52 homers and 130 RBI in 150 games.
In an era when Yankee Stadium’s left-center field dimensions were far more expansive, presenting a challenge to right-handed hitters, Joe DiMaggio batted .357 with 30 homers and 125 RBI in 1941.
That’s the year DiMaggio went on an MLB-record 56-game hitting streak.
And of course, Babe Ruth had four seasons of at least 54 home runs, blasting 60 in 1927 – the MLB record until Maris topped it.
The last Yankees’ MVP season was in 2007, when Alex Rodriguez batted .314 with 54 homers and 156 RBI.
