The ballots have been cast and counted and soon the biggest stars in film will descend upon the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the 94th Annual Academy Awards, airing Sunday, March 27.

After a three years without an official host, Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall have been tasked with orchestrating the evening's festivities. The return to standard form with three of Hollywood's funniest women at the helm has fans hoping for plenty of laughs and entertainment to celebrate the year's biggest achievements in film.

A-list stars like Lady Gaga, Jennifer Garner, Jake Gyllenhaal and Kevin Costner have all be confirmed as presenters, while Beyoncé, Billie Eilish and Reba McEntire are among the artists set to perform Oscar-nominated songs during the broadcast.

According to reports, this year's Oscars will include a full-scale red carpet, which means spectators and viewers can expect to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars looking glamorous in oppulent looks by some of the biggest names in fashion.

The prestige of the Academy Awards combined with the right look can cement actors and actresses in the annals of red carpet history. What stars choose to wear on the Oscar redcarpet can become cultural touchstones for decades to come — for better or worse.

While it helps to be on the right side of fashion history, not every celebrity gets it right when they arrive to the Oscars. In preparation of this year's awards, we're looking back at some of the best and worst fashion moments in Oscars history.
