Bengals’ Zac Taylor comments on Ezekiel Elliott free agency rumors

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor himself has now weighed in on the Ezekiel Elliott rumors.

The same day a report suggested the Bengals were one of Elliott’s final three choices of landing spots, Taylor had a quick-hitting answer when asked about the buzz.

“There’s a lot of great players that are available right now,” Taylor said, via WCPO’s Mike Dyer. “We like our team as where it’s at right now. But it’s always funny when things get thrown around. Sometimes, it’s the first you hear of it. But that’s just the way life works.”

That’s a coach-speak way of saying…well, it’s hard to say. Taylor and Co. probably don’t like that there are no tight ends on the depth chart, right tackle is a mess of rehabbing injuries and trade requests and the running back room is one big question mark after losing Samaje Perine.

Not that Taylor would say those things openly, of course. Elliott might be a smart on-paper fit for the Bengals at the right price in the Perine role, but Thursday’s report hardly means the team has an offer out to Elliott’s camp or has been in touch at all.
