Will the Bengals beat the Titans? 'Madden 24' predicts big game for Joe Burrow
The Cincinnati Bengals finally got their first win of the 2023 season on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3. So will they improve to 2-2 with a win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 4?
We checked with "Madden."
Ahead of the real-life matchup in Nashville, we simulated a game between the Bengals and Titans on "Madden 24." After setting the quarters to seven minutes each (to avoid unrealistic video game scores), we made sure the teams played a 1 p.m. game at Tennessee's Nissan Stadium.
Then we let the "Madden" gods do their thing.
And they seem to have some faith in Joe Burrow and company, unlike last week when the video game predicted a 31-10 blowout loss to the Rams.
First quarter
The Titans got on the board first, with Ryan Tannehill finding Chigoziem Okonkwo from 19 yards out toward the end of the first quarter.
Second quarter
The Bengals quickly tied things up, when Burrow threw a touchdown pass to Tee Higgins to make it 7-7.
Cincinnati then controlled things the rest of the way.
Burrow threw another touchdown pass before halftime, this time to tight end Irv Smith Jr. (We kept Smith in the lineup since we weren't too sure about his upcoming playing status for Week 4.) The Bengals went into the locker room with a 14-7 lead.
Third quarter
In the third quarter, Burrow found Smith again, as the two connected for a 38-yard touchdown play that gave the team a 21-7 advantage.
Fourth quarter
The Titans then made things somewhat interesting in the fourth. Tannehill threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine with 4:33 remaining, making the score 21-14. But the Bengals followed that with a long drive to end the game, running the clock out and clinching a 7-point win.
The final stats of Bengals vs. Titans on 'Madden 24'
Burrow had a huge day, completing 80% of his passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns. His counterpart, Ryan Tannehill, went 13-of-20 through the air for 158 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Neither team ran the ball well. Derrick Henry gained 69 yards on 3.6 yards per carry, while Joe Mixon had 58 yards on 3.8 yards per carry. Ja'Marr Chase dominated at receiver, though, catching seven passes for 109 yards. Smith had six catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
