Ben Roethlisberger's wife worried James Harrison will share Steelers' secrets with Patriots

In case you haven’t heard, the New England Patriots signed veteran linebacker James Harrison on Tuesday.

This has touched off some anger among at least a percentage of Pittsburgh Steelers fans, who have called Harrison a traitor or sellout, burned his jersey and generally gotten upset with him for daring to find employment elsewhere after being fired by his previous team.

(Psssst … if he was supposed to be a Steeler Fo’ Lyfe, someone should have told the Steelers front office.)

It also has led to some conspiracy theories, mainly that the only reason Bill Belichick brought Harrison aboard is to grill him for intel on Pittsburgh; the Steelers and Patriots will be the top two seeds in the AFC playoffs, and could meet in the AFC title game.

One person who worries about said theory: Ashley Roethlisberger.

The wife of Ben Roethlisberger is worried that Harrison will spill his former team’s secrets to Patriots coaches and players.

“My wife and I were talking about it last night,” Ben Roethlisberger said Wednesday in the Steelers’ locker room, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “She was asking me if he knew our no-huddle stuff. I said I don’t think he knows a lot of it. I’m sure he’s heard some of the same things for a lot of years now so maybe some of it. But that’s a long way off.”

According to Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Todd Haley tweaked things in the playbook after receiver Sammie Coates was traded from the Steelers to the Browns before the start of this season.

“The first time we played Cleveland, I think Sammie Coates had just been picked up by them,” Roethlisberger said. “That obviously was a big concern of ours, him knowing our offense. That’s on James. If they want to ask him for every single piece of information he has then that’s what people do in this league. I’m not worried about it. We don’t play them this week. We don’t play them next week. We’ll see.”

The Patriots and Steelers just played one another in Week 15, with the Patriots winning, 27-24.

New England has won its last five meetings against Pittsburgh, including last season’s AFC Championship.
