Kansas City (6-1) defeated the Angels (4-2), 8-4, Thursday at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona.

Former Tennessee pitcher Ben Joyce made his second spring training appearance for Los Angeles.

Joyce pitched one inning, recording one strikeout, while surrendering one hit and two walks.

Joyce was selected by the Angels in the third round (No. 89 overall) of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.

He appeared in 27 games and started one contest in 2022 for the Vols. Joyce (2-1) totaled 53 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched during the 2022 campaign.

Joyce played 13 games, recording 20 strikeouts, for the Rocket City Trash Pandas after being drafted. The Trash Pandas compete in the Southern League and are a Double-A affiliate of the Angels.
