Ben Hale leads Richlands baseball to season opening win

Mar. 21—RICHLANDS, Va, — Ben Hale had a stupendous start to get the Richlands High School baseball season off to an auspcious beginning, leading the Blue Tornado to a 6-0 win over visiting Fort Chiswell at Southwest Virginia Community College in Wednesday's season opener.

Hale, a senior right-hander who has already signed with King University, pitched for six innings. He allowed no hits and struck out 14 batters.

Ft. Chiswell broke up the no-no in the seventh with a single versus relief pitcher Conner McCracken. Ryan Ball got the hit.

Hale had a two run double in the four run fifth innings. The Blue Tornado finished with six hits by seven different players.

Richlands (1-0) plays Patrick Henry today on the road.
