Bemidji's season ends at the hands of defending 4A state champ STMA

Feb. 28—ST. MICHAEL — The Bemidji High School girls basketball team finished out its 2023-24 season with a 90-27 loss to top-seeded St. Michael-Albertville in the Section 8-4A quarterfinals.

The eighth-seeded Lumberjacks (10-16) entered Wednesday's contest fresh off

overcoming senior captain Katey Milbrandt's injury

in a dramatic 72-70 play-in win over ninth-seeded Rogers on Monday at the BHS Gymnasium. But without Milbrandt on Wednesday, BHS couldn't keep up with STMA (20-7), the defending Class 4A state champions.

The Jacks were led by Clara Bieber, who scored 11 points. Karley LaZella chipped in six, and Allie Lish scored two during her final game in a Bemidji uniform.

Eleven players scored for the Knights, led by Ja'Kahla Craft's 15. Four Knights in all reached double figures to help power STMA's 52-point first half.

The Lumberjacks graduate seniors Josey LaValley, Lish and Milbrandt from the program.
