Bemidji State earns academic recognition from WCHA, 11 named scholar-athletes

Feb. 22—BEMIDJI — Fourteen student-athletes from the Bemidji State women's hockey team were recognized as Western Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team selections, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

The WCHA All-Academic Team includes student-athletes who have achieved at least sophomore status in their academic careers and have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in their previous two semesters or three quarters.

Eleven BSU student-athletes were also recognized as WCHA Scholar-Athletes, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.

WCHA Scholar-Athlete distinction includes student-athletes who have achieved at least sophomore status in their academic careers and have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in their previous two semesters or three quarters.

*Khloe Lund, Defense, Sr., Thief River Falls

*Taylor Nelson, Forward, Sr., Carlton

*Kayla Santl, Forward, Sr., Roseau

*Gabbie Smith, Forward, Sr., Brainerd

*Abbie Thompson, Goaltender, Jr., Forest Lake

*Alyssa Watkins, Forward, Jr., Hermantown

*McKayla Zilisch, Forward, So., Appleton, Wis.

A total of 124 student-athletes from the league were recognized as WCHA All-Academic Team members.
