Bemidji boys finish 5th, girls 6th at invite in Mora

Jan. 25—MORA — Both of the Bemidji High School Nordic skiing teams placed among the top half of teams competing on Thursday at the Little Falls Flyers Nordic Ski Invitational held in Mora.

The Lumberjack boys took fifth of 15 teams, while the girls placed sixth of 14 squads.

On the boys side, Bjorn Krona (35.55.1, 17th); Levi Renn (36:05.9, 18th) and Reed Kuzel (36:46.8, 24th) factored into the team score in the pursuit. Kolton Meyer and Leo McKeon placed third in the sprint relay with a time of 19:11.5.

Peter Mathews (37.50.2, 32nd); Liam Larson (38:21.6, 35th); Kaeden Pollock (39:03.2, 42nd); Sam Urban (40:28.2, 58th) and Jack Hildenbrand (41.30.5, 65th) also competed in the pursuit but did not factor into the team score.

On the girls side, Mia Hoffmann led the way with a third-place finish of 39:24.5 in the pursuit. Isabel Renn (41:31.1, 12th) and Maddie Jensen (45:50.4, 34th) closed out the pursuit portion of Bemidji's team score. Faye Calvert and Greer Simula competed in the sprint relay for the Jacks, placing eighth with a time of 25:00.

Anika Harmsen (46:10.1, 37th); Molly Matetich (47:39.8, 47th); Claire Story (47:45, 48th) and Casey Story (49:22.7, 56th) also competed in the pursuit for BHS.
