Bemidji boys finish 21st, girls 26th at Mesabi East and Giants Ridge Invitational

Jan. 6—BIWABIK — The Bemidji Nordic skiing teams competed against dozens of other schools at the Mesabi East and Giants Ridge Invitational.

The boys took 21st with a team score of 330. The girls finished with 278 points in 26th place. Each team scored the top three classic and freestyle skiers.

Reed Kuzel paced the BHS boys in the freestyle race with a time of 11:22.0, which was good enough for 27th place. Kaeden Pollock (12:44.2, 62nd) and Peter Mathews (13:39.8, 99th) followed behind.

Levi Renn led the Lumberjacks in the classic race, finishing with a 33rd-place time of 13:25.5. Kolton Meyer (14:17.8, 64th) and Bjorn Krona (14:30.3, 74th) also skied in the classic race.

Mia Hoffmann was the fastest girl for the Jacks in the freestyle race. She finished in 29th place with a time of 13:04.0. Izzy Renn (13:43.1, 47th) and Anika Harmsen (15:46.2, 101st) trailed behind Hoffmann.

Faye Calvert led the Jacks girls in the classic race to a 65th-place time of 16:52.4. Maddie Jensen (17:12.3, 73rd) and Annabel Louvar (21:49.8, 109th) followed.
