Michigan State received its third commitment for the class of 2018 recruiting class when Belleville forward Gabe Brown gave a verbal to the Spartans via an emotional Tweet, just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
The 6-foot-6 Brown cemented a scholarship offer from the Spartans after a quality, well-rounded performance at the Izzo Shootout team camp on Friday and Saturday.
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo watched Brown closely in each game that he played in East Lansing over the weekend, including a physical game against Clarkston at Jenison Field House on Friday afternoon, and a run-and-gun affair against Chicago Marian Catholic in the main arena at Breslin Center Friday evening.
Saturday morning, Izzo fulfilled a life-goal dream of Brown’s in offering a scholarship to the smooth, athletic wing.
Brown considered the offer for two days, and hinted at committing to the Spartans on Sunday and Monday, then made it official with this tweet:

Brown had offers from MAC schools, Oakland University, the University of Detroit and other schools from the Horizon League.
Michigan State is expected at least one, maybe two and possibly three players to this recruiting class, with East Lansing’s Brandon Johns, Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Marcus Bingham and Detroit’s Trevion Williams among the targets.
