Bella Explains What Went Down with Tyler & Charlie
Bella Thorne is an open book when it comes to all the DRAMZ that went down with her and Charlie Puth late last year. Bella already called Charlie out for his totally off-base tweets accusing her of mistreating her ex Tyler Posey earlier this year, but now she's giving the world a rundown of exactly what led to the Twitter blowup.
When the Famous in Love star stopped by The Jenny McCarthy Show, she revealed that nothing even started brewing between her and Charlie until after she'd broken up with Tyler.
"Honestly, Ty and I stopped dating and that was really difficult for me," Bella revealed. "It was definitely one of the hardest breakups I’ve been through."
Bella got her mind off breakup by hanging with Charlie. "Charlie had been tweeting about me for a while. He was trying to reach out to me. And I had hung out with him twice. We went to the movies. He was cool. I really was like, ‘Wow you’re really talented. Holy sh**. You’re f***ing great, dude.’ And then he invited me to Jingle Ball to watch him and I had never done that before. I got to watch behind the stage which was cool because I was thinking about going back into music."
So were the pair just hanging out, or was there something more? Like, what about those pictures that appeared to show Bella and Charlie in the heat of a makeout sesh on the beach?
"Everything just got way blown out of proportion. We weren’t even kissing in that photo. That photo makes it look like we’re about to kiss and we’re straight-up not about to kiss,” Bella explained. “I was a little bit butt-hurt in that sense. That it got out like that. Obviously, I had to text, call Ty. And Ty wrote me like, ‘It’s all good...’ I didn't think it was going to be a problem because I knew personally that me and Ty were cool.”
Things didn't get awkward until Charlie made the rookie mistake of not looking at the date of an old article about Bella and Tyler dating.
"And Charlie saw an old news article and he didn’t look at the date,” Bella continued, referring his Twitter rant. “And the date is old and it’s about me and Ty and I'm talking about how me and Ty both don;t have much family so we're going to spend Christmas together. And Christmas is about to come at this point."
Bella can even see where Charlie got confused. "In Charlie‘s defense, when he read it, it sounded like it was about me and Ty still being together." But in the end, she's still not okay with the way he handled the situation. "He didn’t even text me or talk to me about it... [And when I saw it] I felt super bad because he really felt like I was still with Ty. But I kept calling him. Wouldn’t answer my calls. Then he just starts texting me."
According to Bella, the moral of the story is pretty simple: "He should have just called me."
