Baseball’s opening round continued at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday, and one of this year’s Olympic stars was on full display.

Feast your eyes.

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN - JULY 30: Jonathan De Marte #21 of Team Israel enters the game from the bullpen cart in the sixth inning against Team United States during the baseball opening round Group B game on day seven of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Yokohama Baseball Stadium on July 30, 2021 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. No, it’s not Team Israel pitcher Jonathan De Marte. It’s that beautiful bullpen cart with a glove-shaped seat.

Bullpen carts are nothing new in baseball, especially in Japan. But they are not nearly as common in the United States. The Arizona Diamondbacks brought it back in 2018, but most relievers opt not to use it.

That doesn’t seem to be a choice in the Tokyo Games, however. And that is to the benefit of viewers worldwide.

I mean, look how majestic this thing is, especially with a guy like 300-plus-pound Jumbo Diaz of the Dominican Republic along for the ride.

Just luxurious.

Oh, and if you were wondering: Team USA opened play with an 8-1 victory over Israel on Friday. The Americans will square off against South Korea on Saturday.
