Auburn Arena will be the site of a huge SEC showdown to start conference play.

Both Auburn and LSU have had tremendous starts to their seasons and will go into this matchup with a ton of well-earned confidence.

Auburn is 11-1 and LSU is 12-0. The winner of the game may see themselves in the top ten in all major polls a week from now based on either team earning a really solid line at the top of their resume.

Auburn fans have been looking for tickets to this game for weeks and each seat has become a hot ticket.

Let’s see what LSU Wire’s Patrick Conn thinks about the matchup.

What do you think of LSU’s season so far?

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

I think they have come out better than expected with a 12-0 record. They lost a couple of key players but Days plus the additions of Reid and Eason has been huge for the team. They still need to find some outside shooting since they have been inconsistent at best in that regard. However, defensively they have been great.

Who does Auburn need to shut down in order to grab the win?

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

Slowing down Tari Eason will be the key to success for Auburn in this game. He has been the leading scoring and a threat to post 20 points and eight rebounds on a nightly basis. Forcing another scorer to help Darius Days will be key for Auburn.

How has LSU done on the road this season?

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

In their true road games, LSU has started off slow and fell behind at the half in both instances. They will need to avoid the slow starts they saw against Louisiana Tech and Georgia Tech. Auburn is a much more talented and deep team that could give LSU issues if they fall behind by double-digits in this game.

Auburn’s depth has worn out opposing teams this year, how does LSU stack up?

The Tigers are pretty top-heavy but they have a lot of athleticism and length coming off the bench. Alex Fudge stepping up will help out Will Wade’s team a ton.

How do you think LSU will defend Jabari Smith?

LSU will likely need to use a few guys to defend Jabari Smith. Efton Reid and Darius Days will likely get first crack and then add in Tari Eason off the bench. They have gotten into foul trouble lately so avoiding early fouls could be the biggest key. Reid will need to keep Smith off the boards.
