Becker, Timbrook shut out Marysville for Cowboy sweep over Bulldogs

Apr. 12—Senior pitchers Kyson Becker and Stocton Timbrook shut down and shut out the Marysville Bulldogs as the Abilene Cowboys swept an NCKL doubleheader Friday at Ted Power Field.

Abilene won both games by the same 10-0 score.

Becker earned the win in the opener as the right handers shut out Marysville on three hits striking out seven and walking four. Timbrook one-hit the Bulldogs through five innings and he set down eight on strikes while walking two.

B. Siemens was the hard luck pitcher for Marysville giving up five earned runs on five hits and five walks in the first inning.

Abilene jumped on Marysville pitching, scoring six runs in the first inning before an out was made. They added two runs in the third and single runs in the fourth and sixth innings for the victory.

Becker, Jake Bartley, and Heath Hoekman each had two hits for Abilene in the opener. Becker drove in three runs while Thomas Keener, Drew Hansen, Timbrook, Bartley and Levi Evans also had RBI in game one.

Game Two

Like Becker in the first game, Stocton Timbrook was masterful on the mound shutting out the Bulldogs with a one hit performance. Timbrook threw 75 pitches over his five innings of work.

Abilene's bats were hot in the second game with Keener, Hansen and Becker all swatting two hits each. Hansen, Becker, and Tyler Holloway each drove in a pair of runs for the Cowboys. Levi Evans also collected an RBI.

Abilene scored five runs in the first and added five runs in the third inning. Dakota Slupianek was the losing pitcher for the Bulldogs as he allowed 10 runs (4 earned) on 10 hits over three innings.

The Cowboys improved to 7 and 1 before Traveling to Riley County for a make-up double header on Thursday.
