It’s one of the largest national parks in North America and arguably the most otherwordly, an enigmatic landscape that stretches through some 3.3 million acres of desert wilderness. Anthropologists estimate that Death Valley first had human settlements roughly 10,000 years ago, which makes a present-day stroll through the national park and the surrounding areas a walk back in time.
