Bears have second-most dead cap heading into 2022
Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles wasted no time making moves to clear some hefty contracts off the books, which included trading star pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Unfortunately, those moves resulted in taking some big dead cap hits for the 2022 season, to join some moves made by former GM Ryan Pace.
According to Over The Cap, the Bears have $52.85 million in dead money for the 2022 season, which is the second-most in the NFL. They trail only the Falcons, who have $63.04 million in dead cap.
Danny Trevathan and Tarik Cohen are designated post-June 1 cuts, so they’re not included in the current total. Chicago will pick up $7.2 million in cap space for 2022 on June 2.
