Bears place WR N’Keal Harry on IR

The Chicago Bears have placed wide receiver N’Keal Harry on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.

Harry suffered a high ankle-sprain back on Aug. 6 and shortly after underwent tightrope surgery on Aug. 11. His timetable for recovery was listed at eight weeks, which lines up with Chicago placed him on IR.

With Harry landing on IR, he’ll have to miss the first four games of the 2022 NFL season. That puts him on track for a Week 5 return against the Minnesota Vikings, at the earliest.

The Bears now have five receivers on the active roster in Darnell Mooney, Byron Pringle, Velus Jones Jr., Equanimeous St. Brown and Dante Pettis. Pringle and Jones remain sidelined with injuries.

With Harry landing on IR, that opens up a spot on the active roster for Chicago to fill. It wouldn’t be a surprise for Isaiah Coulter to be elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Bears also announced they signed offensive lineman Kellen Diesch and linebacker Joe Thomas to the practice squad.
