Justin Fields emulated his game after Russell Wilson originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

A couple of months ago, Chicago Bears fans were hoping for general manager Ryan Pace to pull off a trade for Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

And in a weird way, the Bears might have gotten some element of Wilson when they traded up to draft Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

"I would say when I was younger, like maybe eighth, ninth grade, it was more Cam Newton. But I would say these past couple years I’ve kind of turned more to a Russell Wilson-type quarterback," Fields told the media in his second press conference as a Bear.

And seriously look at this side by side of Wilson and Fields.

Or this one.

Eerily similar, and by design of course.

But aside from the mechanics, Fields takes a lot from Wilson as a franchise quarterback, something Fields told the media he expects of himself. Fields express admiration for how he carries himself as a leader and a teammate.

"I’ve watched a lot of film on him," Fields said of Wilson. I’ve watched a lot of highlights on him, so I think the things that we can do on the field with both of those quarterbacks, I think we have a lot of similarities between extending plays with our legs and also having the arm talent.

"I think those are a couple of guys that I kind of emulate my game after."

Between Wilson and Newton there are three Super Bowl appearances, one trophy and an MVP award. Not a bad duo to model your game after.
