Will the Bears face the Falcons without Julio Jones in Week 3?

The Chicago Bears could be catching a major break in their Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons, as star wide receiver Julio Jones continues to be hobbled by a hamstring injury.

His status for Sunday’s game is unstable at best.

Jones entered Week 2’s game against the Cowboys with a strained hamstring, and as Falcons coach Dan Quinn told reporters Wednesday, the injury is an even bigger concern now.

Jones’ play on Sunday was clearly impacted by the injury. He had just two catches for 24 yards after exploding for nine catches and 157 yards in Week 1.

The Bears haven’t face Jones since 2017 when the star wideout caught four passes for 66 yards. In three career games against Chicago, Jones has yet to score a touchdown or go over 100 yards.

Cornerbacks Kyle Fuller and rookie Jaylon Johnson will be tasked with slowing the Falcons’ top-tier duo of pass-catchers, which is being led this season by former first-round pick, Calvin Ridley.

Ridley leads the NFL through two weeks with 239 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

We’ll continue to monitor Jones’ injury status throughout the week.
