A-Rob joins Zach LaVine All-Star train: 'Get this dude in' originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Another day, another big-name endorsement in Zach LaVine's All-Star campaign.

Friday morning, Bears wideout Allen Robinson joined legions pushing for LaVine to earn his first career selection on social media:

On Thursday, it was White Sox star Tim Anderson calling LaVine both All-Star and superstar caliber. There was also Chris Paul recently calling LaVine "nice as hell" and Dwyane Wade imploring fans to "get it right this year" by making LaVine an All-Star

"I think for basketball players that means more than anything. I think that's the thing that takes you longer," LaVine told K.C. Johnson on a recent episode of the Bulls Talk Podcast of receiving recognition from his peers. "Especially if you get snubbed or if you don't have some of those individual accolades and your peers come up and tell you, 'Hey look, you're still that guy' or 'I see you at this level.' You know, that means a lot because that's the company that you're playing with and they hold you to a higher standard."

Averaging 28.2 points, 5.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds on nearly 50/40/90 shooting splits will get you some recognition. As of latest fan voting returns, LaVine remains fifth among Eastern Conference guards. Fans (50 percent), and panels of media (25 percent) and players (25 percent) cumulatively decide five All-Star starters (two guards, three frontcourt) from each conference. Coaches then pick seven reserves from each conference.

So, while not a shoo-in, LaVine is well in the mix in a crowded field. With reserves scheduled to be announced Feb. 23, the stretch run awaits.
