The game-plan was talked about before the opening kick. W.F. West High School's boys soccer team wanted to get junior Adrian Jaimes in space within the first minute of Monday's match versus Tumwater.

It worked to perfection.

Jeremy Thompson threaded the middle of the defense with a pass right to Jaimes, who then took his defender one-on-one and slotted the first of four goals for the Bearcats in their 4-0 triumph over the Thunderbirds in Chehalis.

"As a coach, you can't plan it any better than that," W.F. West head coach Allen Anderson said. "To see it executed right off the bat, it set the tone for us."

In a contest between the last two unbeaten teams in the Evergreen Conference, the Bearcats (4-1, 3-0) scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the match.

Jaimes' goal came in the first minute, then defender Colin Bradley fired a rebound shot into the goal for a 2-0 cushion. Gage Grisham added one in the 54th minute and Moises Sanchez-Hernandez put the finishing touches on a clinic in the 69th minute.

"We had a few spurts where Tumwater dominated possession, but for us as a team, it was a complete game," Anderson said. "It is a really big deal. We're finding multiple ways to overcome adversity. I can't even remember the last time Tumwater has been shutout."
