Baylor keeps hold on No. 1 spot in Ferris Mowers Men's Basketball Coaches Poll

The first Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll of 2022 looks almost the same as the last poll of 2021, at least at the top.

Baylor retains the No. 1 position after handling its Big 12 opener at previously unbeaten Iowa State. The Bears once again received all 32 first-place votes. The Cyclones, meanwhile, slip three places to No. 11.

Duke, which has not played since Dec. 22 and hopes to get back on the court this week following a COVID-19 pause, retains the No. 2 ranking. The rest of the top five also remains unchanged, with Purdue at No. 3 followed by Gonzaga and UCLA.

No. 6 Kansas and No. 7 Arizona also hold their positions. Southern California moves up a notch to No. 8. Auburn hops up two spots to No. 9 and Michigan State continues to round out the top 10.

Baylor forward Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua (23) shoots past Northwestern State guard LaTerrance Reed (3) during the first half at Ferrell Center.

TOP 25: Complete Ferris Mowers Men's Basketball Coaches Poll

After taking the biggest drop a couple of weeks ago, Villanova bounces back up seven places to No. 15 off its defeat of Seton Hall. The Pirates take the biggest hit, falling nine spots to No. 22 after they were also upended by No. 17 Providence last week.

No new teams join the top 25 this week, though that figures to change as conference play ramps up – health permitting, of course – with the change in the calendar.
