Baylor Bears maul the Texas Longhorns, 81-72

The Baylor Bears (21-8) defeated the Texas Longhorns (22-7) on Saturday. The game wasn’t as close as the score indicates.

Texas started the game with an 18-4 lead. For the most part, it was all Baylor from there.

Rodney Terry’s group didn’t get much of anything offensively. Dylan Disu was the lone bright spot, putting up 24 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field.

The Longhorns started to pick up steam in the final minutes, but not before the game was out of reach. Three-point baskets started to fall for Texas, but not before it was too late.

Baylor did a masterful job selling and drawing fouls in the matchup. It paid off for the Bears in the game.

If you were to take issue with any of Rodney Terry’s coaching performances, you would point to Saturday’s game. Judging by Texas players’ affect, the Longhorns looked defeated fairly early into the game. Terry simply couldn’t coach the team out of the slump.

Texas can still earn a share of the Big 12 title should it defeat TCU and Kansas. The team will need outside help to win the conference outright.

The Longhorns will take on the TCU Horned Frogs (19-10) in Fort Worth on Wednesday.
