Battle for the Springhouse starts Friday

Feb. 1—The state's unique basketball experience will start its third installment Friday.

The Battle for the Springhouse will be held Friday and Saturday inside Colonial Hall at The Greenbrier resort. The ballroom basketball setting is the only of its kind.

Friday will get started with a girls game between North Marion and Mingo Central at 2 p.m.

That will be followed by the Shady Spring boys facing Huntington at 4 p.m.

The host Greenbrier East Spartans will take it from there. The boys will face Morgantown at 6 p.m., with the girls meeting Logan in the nightcap at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the boys consolation game at 1 p.m. will be followed by the girls consolation at 3 p.m.

The boys championship game is set for 5 p.m. Then the girls championship will be decided at 7 p.m.

Three of the participating boys teams are ranked. Shady Spring is No. 2 in Class AAA, while Morgantown is No. 2 and Huntington No. 8, respectively, in Class AAAA.

On the girls side, Greenbrier East is eighth in Class AAAA. North Marion is No. 6 in Class AAA and Mingo Central sixth in Class AA.

Tickets are sold on a game-by-game basis at $5 per game. They are available online until 11 a.m. gameday at Greenbrier.com/Springhouse. After 11 a.m., tickets are available at the door.
