Batesville's Eckstein wins high jump at UIndy

Mar. 11—INDIANAPOLIS — The Batesville track and field team traveled to Indianapolis Friday to compete in the team's second indoor meet at the University of Indianapolis. This was also a chance to try and qualify for the Hoosier State Relays on March 23 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Batesville had a successful evening with a champion, a pair of runner-ups, two third place finishes, several other top eight finishes as well as 19 personal best performances. There were 18 schools at this meet.

Ayden Eckstein won the high jump with a successful clearance at 6-6. The girls 4x800 relay team of Kaylie Raver, Kaylynn Bedel, Paige Allgeier and Megan Allgeier (10:11.18) and the girls Distance Medley Relay team of Kaylynn Bedel, Kaylie Raver, Megan Allgeier and Lexiyne Harris (13:23.47 — PR by 15 seconds) both finished second.

Third place finishes for the night were Hudson Kohlman in pole vault (12-0) and Ella King in shot put (36-6.75).

The boys 4x800 relay team of Ethan Lacey, Cash Myers, Ethan Rahschulte and Cannon Clark placed 6th (9:18.86).

Placing seventh for the evening was Gage Pohlman in the 60 hurdles, Ayden Eckstein in the long jump at a personal best jump of 20-0.25, and the boys DMR team of Cannon Clark, Deev Ranka, Griffin Koester and Isaac Trossman (11:40.24). The girls 4x400 relay team of Megan Allgeier, Bayleigh Demaree, Katie Lipps and Kaylie Raverfinished the night in eighth place (4:27.07).
