Bat at Pacers game against Clippers may have exposed fans to rabies

There has been an influx of bats on the loose at NBA games this season.

Bats flew around at the AT&T Center twice within days of each other this month — one of which resulted in a hilarious save by the Spurs mascot.

Yet a bat that got loose at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Thursday during the Indiana Pacers’ game against the Los Angeles Clippers may have exposed fans to rabies.

The Indiana State Department of Health announced that anyone who may have touched the bat with bare skin is urged to contact the department or their health care provider about receiving the rabies vaccination, according to the Associated Press.

Since the bat is no longer inside the arena, its rabies status is currently unknown, according to the report.

So far, nobody has reported coming within direct contact with the bat.

The Pacers beat the Clippers 116-92 on Thursday night behind 29 points from Bojan Bogdanovic, which marked their fourth straight win.
