Basketball playoffs: Lodi teams to host play-in games Monday; Liberty Ranch, Elliot and Lodi Academy get started Tuesday

Feb. 11—With the high school basketball season finishing on Friday, the Sac-Joaquin Section released its playoff brackets on Saturday, giving local teams their postseason marching orders.

Both of Lodi's teams earned the No. 14 seed in Division I and will play home games on Monday, with the rest of the brackets getting started on Tuesday.

The Flames' girls team (16-10) will host No. 19 Gregori (16-12) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, and the Flames' boys team (17-11) will host No. 19 Downey (11-17) at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, Elliot Christian's boys team, along with the Liberty Ranch and Lodi Academy girls teams, will have their playoff openers. The Elliot Christian girls team has a first-round bye, and will open on Thursday.

On the girls side, Liberty Ranch finished 23-5, and went 9-1 in the Sierra Valley Conference for a league title, and earned the No. 6 seed in Division IV. The Hawks will host No. 11 Sonora (15-12) on Tuesday. In Division VI, Lodi Academy (11-4, co-champion of the Mountain Valley League at 6-2) earned the No. 7 seed, and will host Forest Lake Christian (8-14) on Tuesday.

Elliot Christian finished 12-5 for the No. 6 seed in D-VI, and after a first-round by will play at No. 3 Foresthill (22-5) on Thursday.

On the boys side of Division VI, Elliot Christian earned an at-large bid with a 5-17 record, and will play at No. 7 Victory Christian (11-4) on Tuesday.

Lodi's boys finished the regular season with a 77-65 victory over Tokay on Friday, securing fourth place in the Tri-City Athletic League at 6-6. The Tigers finished 7-21 overall, and 0-12 in the TCAL.

Lodi's girls team cruised on Friday, beating Tokay 58-33 to finish 6-2 in the TCAL to finish behind Lincoln. Tokay finished the season with 6-16 record, and 2-5 in the TCAL.
