BASKETBALL: Chickasha teams earn road sweep against Clinton

Jan. 13—The Chickasha basketball teams went on the road and earned a pair of victories.

Chickasha traveled to Clinton on Friday for a pair of games that ended with the victories. Chickasha won both games, but the paths to those victories were completely different.

The Lady Chicks jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a 69-30 victory over Clinton. The Chickasha boys got late heroics from Kaiden Boswell in a 33-30 overtime victory over the Red Tornadoes.

Despite Clinton going on a 6-0 run to tie the game before overtime and extending that run to 11-0 in overtime, the Fightin' Chicks did not allow those things to keep them from coming out on top.

Chickasha held a 25-19 lead in the fourth quarter before Clinton tied the game to send it to overtime. Clinton then scored the first five points in overtime to go up by five.

But Clinton did not score again, and Chickasha finished the game on an 8-0 run to earn the win. More specifically, Boswell ended the game on a solo 8-0 run to lift the team to victory.

Boswell snapped the scoreless streak by hitting a pair of free throws. He then knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, draining the game-winner from the corner to put Chickasha in the lead.

Boswell scored all eight of his points in overtime.

And the Lady Chicks jumped out to a 7-0 lead, never trailing in the dominant victory over their opponent.

And it was an effort that saw almost double-digit players get in the scoring column. Nine total Chickasha players scored in the win, and a handful of players reached double-digit points.

Serenity Golightly, Mea Ginn, Addison Ferguson, Kayleigh Terry, Lexi Jo Shoemake, Olivia Wilson, Carley Ryans, Justice Miracle and Sydney Burtschi all scored in the win.

That balance will be important moving forward.

"It was great to see a lot of our girls take on a scoring role tonight," head coach Jace Johnson said. "We're going to need that as we continue our season."
