Manchester United has rejected a stunning request from FC Barcelona to include Harry Maguire in a deal to sign dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

With the arrival of United's new manager, Erik Ten Hag, the club sees itself closing in on signing its top target. The Red Devils are seemingly agreeing on a £68 million GBP (approximately $83,500,000 USD) fee for the Dutch midfielder, who has previously played under Erik Ten Hag at Ajax.

However, what surprised most fans was Barcelona's request to include Maguire in the deal. The English defender had a disappointing season, and being the most expensive defender adds to the disappointment for fans. It was an even bigger surprise when United refused the request. Making the deal a full-on cash-only for De Jong.

Ten Hag has commented that he is keen to work with De Jong.

In other news, Sadio Mane signed for Bayern Munich.
