Badger blanks Craig in boys soccer

Aug. 29—The season got off to a sour start for Janesville Craig's boys soccer team.

Lake Geneva Badger scored once in each half en route to a 2-0 nonconference win Saturday.

The Badgers got goals from Logan Meinel and Gio Diaz to improve to 2-0-1 on the season.

Craig got five saves from Reed Kelly but could not generate much offensively.

"This was our first game of the season, and gave us a good indication where we are and where we need to be going forward," Craig coach Garrett McCabe said. "We started the first 25 minutes really hot with awesome possessions and a few great chances on goal. As time wore on, you could tell it was our first game as we tired in the 92 degree heat.

"Badger caught us twice on two mistakes that led directly to individual goals. It was obvious Badger had a couple of games under their belt already."
