Bach in business, the Ohio State band performs one last crescendo at halftime vs. Michigan

For the first time since 2018, the Ohio State Marching Band performed at an Ohio State-Michigan gam,e and in doing so finished one of the the group's most prolific seasons.

In the 100th anniversary of Ohio Stadium, the Buckeyes hosted eight games, meaning the band played at halftime eight times this season at home, including five straight weeks to open the season. This was the band's ninth halftime performance as they played at Penn State.

TBDBITL ended this regular season by performing during halftime of the Michigan game. Because of the pandemic, this is the first installment of "The Game" in Columbus since 2018. The 2020 game was canceled due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Michigan program meaning Michigan hosted the game in back-to-back meetings. The band didn't make the trip to Ann Arbor, Mich. in 2021.

And for the final performance of the regular season, the band pulled out the classics.

No, it wasn't Rolling Stones hits like last time, or an Elton John tribute like in October. It was the classics-classics.

Performing a routine called "Finis à la Buckeye," the band played bits from famous composers Sebastian Bach, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Leonard Bernstein and Felix Mendelssohn, among others. Here's what the Buckeyes played:

  • Overture to Candide

  • Toccata in D minor

  • Wedding March

  • Le Régiment de Sambre et Meuse

  • Habanera from Carmen

  • Claire de Lune

  • Festive Overture

  • 1812 Overture
