Source: Knicks forward Wilcox to Pistons
Chris Wilcox(notes) agreed to a a two-year, $6 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday.
Wilcox, a 6-foot-10 power forward, will join free agents Charlie Villanueva(notes) and Ben Gordon(notes) on a remade Pistons roster. Detroit had been pursued by Utah for a Carlos Boozer(notes)- Tayshaun Prince(notes) deal, but Pistons president Joe Dumars decided against it, sources said. Detroit hasn't been inclined to give Boozer a contract extension – besides still deeply valuing Prince. Detroit also had considered signing forward Drew Gooden(notes), who is still available on the market.
Wilcox, 26, finished last season with the New York Knicks, after a mid-season trade from Oklahoma City. He's averaged 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds for his career. He was originally drafted with the eighth pick of the 2002 draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, where he played until traded to Seattle in 2006.
