The Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes made a minor swap on Tuesday, name-wise, at least.

Arizona sent defenceman Kevin Connauton and a 2020 third-rounder to Colorado for forward Carl Soderberg, several outlets reported on Tuesday.

The Avs were able to dump the final year of the 33-year-old’s $4.75M AAV after arguably his best campaign in Colorado, having posted 23 goals and 49 points while suiting up for all 82 of Colorado’s regular-season contests.

Connauton, meanwhile, has has spent parts of six NHL seasons between St. Louis, Dallas and Arizona, and comes with a cap hit of $1.38 million for one more campaign — saving Colorado more than $3.3 million in cap savings for 2019-20.
