Auston Matthews named cover athlete for EA Sports NHL 20
Auston Matthews will officially be following in the footsteps of P.K. Subban, Connor McDavid, Vladimir Tarasenko and many more before him.
The Leafs superstar will be on the cover of EA Sports NHL 20.

“This is awesome,” said Matthews after the announcement at the 2019 NHL Awards in Las Vegas. “I love this game, played it my whole life. I’m insanely competitive when I do and being on the cover is one of the coolest things I could imagine.”
The 21-year-old is coming off the most productive season of his young career, one in which he scored a career-high 37 goals and 73 points in just 68 regular season games.
Matthews is the first worldwide cover athlete in the history of the video game franchise to be a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Last season, Toronto’s William Nylander was on the cover of the game in Sweden.
NHL 20 is scheduled to be released on September 13, 2019.
