Just two years ago, Austin Reaves was seemingly an afterthought in the world of pro basketball. He made his way onto the Los Angeles Lakers as an undrafted free agent, and it wasn’t a certainty he would permanently make their roster.

He not only permanently made their roster, but he got into their rotation quite early in the 2021-22 campaign. This season, he became a very good and highly efficient player, so much so that he’s considered the third-best player on the team.

Yes, Reaves is big time now.

He will be a restricted free agent soon, and he is set to receive a big payday, whether it’s with the Lakers or some other team. Many people in the Southland and just about every true basketball fan knows who he is now.

In fact, Reaves is such a name now that there’s a rumor he was recently seen at a bar in his native Arkansas with pop star Taylor Swift.

The 12-time Grammy winner recently broke up with Matty Healy, the lead vocalist of the band The 1975, which has apparently fueled this rumor. However, many aren’t buying it.

Reaves' brother shoots down the rumor

Spencer Reaves, Austin Reaves’ brother, took to Twitter to apparently pour some cold water on the rumor that the latter is dating Swift.

Austin Reaves is from small-town rural America and is about as humble as a star pro athlete can be. However, there’s no telling what the bright lights of stardom in Hollywood can do to even a supposed country bumpkin like him.

Still, it’s fair to say that, at least for now, this rumor seems pretty bogus.
