Austin Nola laces an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the 3rd inning
Imagine being able to walk around with two of golf's best for what felt like a casual round of golf. In their case, it also looked like a casual round. Woods used his putter to go over a steep slope from behind the 18th green, and he made a 6-footer coming back to end with a birdie.
More rumors began circulating on Friday that Lonzo Ball may be included in trade talks this off-season after Jay Williams reported as such on his radio show. I'm hearing things around New Orleans that Lonzo may be used as a trading asset in New Orleans…, Jay Williams of ESPN. For a variety of reasons, Ball will likely not be traded.
This week, it arrived in one of the strangest and most amazing ways yet ... with legendary Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman spitting a gay slur so very casually into a mic he didn't know was hot ... and then apologizing many hours later in the most awkward way possible ... by stopping mid-apology after saying “I'm a man of faith” to hear the crack of a bat ... and interrupting the broadcasting of what might have been the end of his career ... with the most somber, funniest home run call you will ever hear in your life. This isn't even yet the politics I'm talking about, of course, because being gay isn't supposed to be politics just like wearing a mask isn't supposed to be politics.
Martin Truex Jr. called Aric Almirola an “idiot” and blamed his late-race blocking for Truex losing Saturday's Cup race at Dover International Speedway to Denny Hamlin. After getting caught behind Almirola, Truex lost the lead to Hamlin with nine laps to go and Truex finished second, ending a stretch of five races with third-place finishes. “Really, I think if the 10 (Aric Almirola) car just wasn't pinning on the bottom in front of me I would have been fine,” Truex told NBCSN after the race.
One of the most fun storylines for the Washington Football Team over the summer is now over, as news has broken that rookie TE Thaddeus Moss has been waived from the squad. Moss was a member of the National Championship-winning LSU team in 2019, but he went undrafted in April and signed with Washington shortly after the draft came to a close on Saturday. After working out with the team throughout the summer and the start of training camp, Moss has been released, and will now look to sign with another team that may want him.
When the Sixers acquired Al Horford last July, their excitement was double-layered. In addition to acquiring a five-time All-Star they thought could solve the backup center problem behind Joel Embiid, the team plucked a key player from a rival - one who happened to defend Embiid quite well. Now, as Horford's first season as a Sixer surely nears its end, there's a double whammy to consider.
The Dolphins are going to be without their for-now starting quarterback, and they're looking at some reinforcements. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Dolphins coach Brian Flores said Ryan Fitzpatrick would not practice today for personal reasons. The Dolphins brought Jake Rudock in for a workout Thursday.
''He said, 'Bro, what am I supposed to be working on again?''' Claude Harmon said Saturday as he watched his pupil set another personal record in The Northern Trust. Johnson was an astounding 11-under par through 11 holes Friday and had the golf world curious if he would go as low as 57 to set the PGA Tour record. Instead of the fast start, it was a big finish.
Karl and Jackson clearly haven't moved past their feud. Commentating during the Lakers' Game 2 win over the Trail Blazers last night, Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy discussed Carmelo Anthony's defense. Jorge Alonso of BroBible: Jackson: People who killed Carmelo Anthony in the past for his defense and whatever, they were wrong.
Tiger Woods was – to use a popular expression – today years old when he made a putt on the green with the flagstick in the hole. Since the rule change, there have been several studies conducted to determine whether it is an advantage to leave the flagstick in or not, and Adam Scott and Bryson DeChambeau were among the early adopters. The spread of COVID-19 and golfers not wanting to touch the flagstick has made leaving the flag in a popular choice among recreational golfers, but most professionals seem to be set in their ways.
Coach Jon Gruden was impressed as well, but so far, his favorite part of Allegiant is its location. The Raiders are indeed in the entertainment capital of the world, near the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, and Gruden seems to love it. Incredibly, it wasn't long ago that having an NFL team in fabulous Las Vegas, with all its glitz and glamour, was unthinkable due in part to the city's legal gambling.

Former Boston Red Sox utility man Brock Holt has been designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers, the team announced Saturday. Holt, a fan-favorite and two-time World Series champion in Boston, signed a one-year contract worth $3.25 million with Milwaukee in February. Holt has struggled through 16 games played with the Brewers this season.
Her ranking close to No. 400, Sophia Popov was pushing a trolley for her best friend at an LPGA Tour event in the United States three weeks ago. On Sunday, she'll take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the Women's British Open. Popov set up what could be a life-changing day on the links of Royal Troon in southwest Scotland by shooting a bogey-free, 4-under 67 that tied the low score of the third round on Saturday.
Dillian Whyte felt he was "bossing" Alexander Povetkin prior to his devastating knock-out loss as the WBC title hopeful requested a rematch. Whyte's hopes of landing a mandatory shot at the WBC championship were halted following his shock defeat against Povetkin in Saturday's stunning heavyweight bout. After dominating the opening four rounds and downing Povetkin twice in the fourth, WBC contender Whyte was sensationally knocked out with a massive uppercut in the fifth.
George isn't there to be Andre Roberson, and he knows the personal expectations around his performance, the derision around his nickname “Playoff P” can go by the wayside with the “Kobe stopper” or “Jordan stopper” should he come up short. He only gave a hint through social media after the Clippers absorbed a 40-piece from Doncic that he at least hears the doubters, but can't let that affect his approach. At his best, George can be Pippen-like: disruptive on defense, unselfish on offense and the perfect wingman to Leonard, the reigning Finals MVP and player who implored the Clippers on emptying the house to acquire him.
Peter DeBoer didn't name his starting goaltender for Game 1 of the Vegas Golden Knights' second-round series against the Vancouver Canucks. A tweet Saturday by Marc-Andre Fleury's agent may have given that information away, and it certainly stirred up questions in the middle of the playoffs. Agent Allan Walsh posted to Twitter an illustration of Fleury in full uniform in net being impaled by a sword with ''DeBoer'' on it.

Expectations understandably are high for No. 1 overall draft pick Joe Burrow at Cincinnati Bengals camp. Not mistake-free, mind you — but even on his poor plays, Burrow seems to be earning respect from the veterans in camp. On Thursday, Burrow threw what was described by The Athletic as a bad interception, with Bengals linebacker Josh Bynes reportedly able to step in front of the pass easily and pick it off.
