Augusta GreenJackets to play Columbia Fireflies in 2024 season opening weekend

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF)- The Augusta National Women’s Amateur isn’t the only big sports event happening this weekend. It’s also the Augusta GreenJackets opening weekend.

This weekend will be packed with family fun starting with Friday night’s game.

The first 2,000 fans in the gate Friday night will get a commemorative golf towel. Plus, Terrapin Brewing Company will offer drafts at half-price.

Saturday, there will be a pre game concert from 4:30-5:30 p.m. featuring Jonathan Wilson and a post game fireworks show.

And on Sunday fans will enjoy food specials and kids will get to participate in a pre game catch and post game running of the bases. Fur babies are invited too.

“So we partner with Hollywood Feed and Patsy’s Pet Parlor for our Bark in the Park Sundays this season. That’s on non fireworks Sundays. Dogs are free to come out, we just ask owners to sign waivers and they just get to enjoy being out here,” explained Catie Graf, Director of Marketing for the GreenJackets.

And also on Sunday, you could be the lucky winner of $20,000!

“We’ll have a $20,000 chipping contest. Fans can enter day of to hopefully be that lucky person to get the chance and hopefully they’ll walk away with some cash. So it is a kind of a one shot, will be on the field. There’s a certain distance, a couple of protocols we have to follow, but they’ll get one swing, one chip to make a hole in one,” Graf said.

Gates open for Friday night’s game at 5:30 p.m. and first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

You can get more information about the weekend’s events, buy tickets and pay for parking by going to the GreenJackets website.
