Auburn takes giant leap forward in latest USA TODAY Sports’ re-rank following win at Arkansas
Blowout victories are always rewarding.
That statement is proven this week through the latest USA TODAY Sports re-rank from Paul Myerberg. Following a 48-10 thrashing of Arkansas on the road last Saturday, Auburn has made the climb to No. 46 in this week’s rankings. The Tigers climbed 13 spots this week after moving into the top 60 following a road win at Vanderbilt two weeks ago.
The top eight slots remain unchanged this week, as Michigan continues to ride the top spot after a thrilling (and emotional) win over Penn State on Saturday. UTSA is this week’s biggest mover after blowing out Rice on Saturday, 34-14. The Roadrunners are now No. 38, which is a 15-spot increase.
Two other programs join Auburn as 13-spot movers: San Jose State and this week’s opponent, New Mexico State. The biggest drop this week belongs to Fresno State, who fell 13 places to No. 32 following a 42-18 dismantling by the hands of San Jose State.
Both of Auburn’s opponents are ranked ahead of them. New Mexico State checks in at No. 42 this week while Alabama remains at No. 8.
