Auburn softball season preview: A look at Auburn softball’s top returning hitters

Auburn softball returns to the diamond this week and will have plenty of experienced lineup pieces to work with this season.

The Tigers lost several talented members of its 2023 roster last season due to the transfer portal such as Bri Ellis, Lindsey Garcia, and Denver Bryant. However, Auburn is a top-25 team in several national polls due to the players that stayed.

Among those returning are the team leaders in average, runs, hits, and stolen bases. From Nelia Peralta to Icess Tresvik, here is a look at the top ten returning hitters to Auburn’s lineup.

Nelia Peralta is Auburn’s top returning weapon at the plate this season, and we can expect much of the same from her this season. Peralta led the team in several categories such as average, at-bats, runs, hits, triples, walks, and on-base percentage.

The second-returning speedster this season is Makayla Packer. Packer hit over .300 last season, but her speed on the basepaths will aid the Tigers in a big way this season. She stole 14 bases last season out of 17 opportunities, which was second-highest on the team.

KK McCrary may not have gotten an at-bat in every game last season, but she found a way to get on base on most occasions. McCrary is Auburn’s returning doubles leader with 9, which tied Bri Ellis for the overall team lead last season. She also holds the team’s third-highest RBI total at 19. McCrary was also perfect on the basepaths by stealing seven bases in seven opportunities.

Outside of having one of college softball’s coolest names, Axe Milanowski is also a solid hitter as well. She hit a .250 average last season, which led all freshmen. Her lone home run last season came on March 1’s game with Troy on the road when she cranked a three-run blast in Auburn’s 11-0 victory. Her home run capped a six-run 7th inning which helped Auburn pull away for the win.
