Auburn Morning Rush: Tigers land transfer DE, softball slugger recognized

Auburn may have been bounced from the College World Series, but don’t fret — there is still Auburn news to catch on.

On this Friday morning, we have a transfer player from Western Kentucky headed to Auburn, one of the softball team’s big hitters being ranked among Division I’s best players, the men’s golf team celebrates a big anniversary and Auburn’ track athletes get the chance to represent their countries for international qualifiers.

Auburn lands defensive end transfer

 

A transfer player has finally signed with the Auburn Tigers.

Marcus Bragg, who was ranked as a three-star on 247Sports, officially committed to the Auburn Tigers on Tuesday. Bragg played for Western Kentucky for three years prior to signing with the Plains, where he amassed  most of his playing time in 2021 and racked up 26 total tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.

Softball player ranked in top 150

Tigers slugger Bri Ellis is still getting recognized.

The freshman was ranked No. 94 on D1 Softball’s D150 rankings, which ranks the top 150 softball players in Division I softball. Ellis was a force for the Tigers this year, with 44 percent of her hits amounting to home runs in 2021. Her slugging percentage, .722, was the second-highest of any Auburn player in the school’s history.

Men's golf coach hits 13th anniversary

Auburn’s Nick Clinard certainly isn’t just par for the course.

Tuesday marked the 13th anniversary of his hiring on the Plains, and the program has seen remarkable success since then. After coming to Auburn from UCF in 2009, Clinard has overseen a baker’s dozen of All-Americans, nine championship appearances and an SEC title as head coach of the Auburn Tigers.

Seven Auburn athletes to compete in national trials

Auburn track and field athletes will compete for the chance to represent their country from Thursday to Sunday.

Six Tigers athletes will be in Eugene, Oregon, to fight for a spot on the US national team. Keira McCarrell, who is Canadian, will compete in Langley, British Columbia, to try and make it to the Canadian national team.
